INTERVIEW WITH CODECRAFT’S CAMPUS DIRECTOR, BILL ADKINS
Our fearless Campus Director, Bill Adkins, answered questions about CodeCraft, coding bootcamps and his visions for the future with Steve Porter, Editor in Chief of InnovatioNews.com.
InnovatioNews, is a local online publication that “aims to illuminate the Colorado innovation community.” Its team works hard to cover “innovation topics, share important/timely innovation news, provide research and business tools, and create a forum for the community and those interested in innovation–all within the State of Colorado.”
Bill was happy to answer questions like the following and expand on why everyone at CodeCraft, students and employees, are so excited to be there
- What differentiates CodeCraft from other coding schools?:
- What kind of person is the ideal candidate for a web0development bootcamp?
- How does CodeCraft determine what curriculums to offer
“Q: CodeCraft emphasizes that it teaches students “ How to Think Like a Programmer,” what exactly does that mean?
A: In the technology world, there are many ways to become “proficient” in a coding technology. There are fast paths and shortcuts that can help folks “code,” but it may not necessarily encompass the act of being a programmer. Programming is about embracing new technologies - in many ways it is a key requirement of the job. It is about being adaptable - many times a programmer may be interviewing for a job requiring a coding language that they will have to learn if/when hired. We teach the fundamental skills and practices of how to think that way, so while the students get great fundamental full-stack skills at CodeCraft (www.codecraftschool.com), they are also well equipped to teach themselves and learn new languages as they move forward with their careers.”
